Breaking Free Group’s evidence-based digital intervention for addressing Substance Use Disorder is to be deployed in Windsor-Essex to help address the opioid crisis and high prevalence of methamphetamine abuse in this region of Ontario.
Due to start in April 2020, implementation of Breaking Free from Substance Use will adopt a phased approach. The program will be delivered by Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, House of Sophrosyne and other local addiction services in the first year, and then made accessible to every resident of Windsor-Essex who is experiencing difficulties with drugs or alcohol in the second year of the deployment.
The project is being funded by the philanthropic Solcz Family Foundation and supported by Ontario Telemedicine Network, which has approved Breaking Free Group as a Vendor of Record for the provision of addictions solutions.
Glyn Davies, Service Development Director at Breaking Free Group, said: “We are very excited to see our Breaking Free from Substance Use solution being utilized region-wide to help alleviate the impact of opioid dependence in Windsor-Essex, which has been particularly affected by the opioid crisis in Canada. We are grateful to the Solcz Family Foundation for funding this initiative and look forward to working with all stakeholders in the region to maximize its impact.”
