IXION COMMISSIONS BREAKING FREE ONLINE TO SUPPORT EX-OFFENDERS WITH SUBSTANCE MISUSE ISSUES

June 2019

Ixion is a not-for-profit company that has been commissioned and co-funded by Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and the European Social Fund (ESF) to deliver employability services that support ex-offenders ‘through the prison gate’, when they transition from custody to the community.

To strengthen this initiative, which is available to everyone accessing Ixion’s services in the South East, Thames Valley and West Midlands regions, the company has commissioned the Breaking Free Online digital substance misuse programme to provide additional support for those requiring alcohol or drug interventions.

Breaking Free Online will be used to provide ex-offenders with 24/7 access to evidence-based behavioural support when they are at their most vulnerable, such as during the early resettlement period, when it is vital to help them minimise the risks of relapse, overdose and slipping back into a substance-involve lifestyle.
